Broccoli salad is a variation of legendary coleslaw. This type of mixture is prepared using shredded raw broccoli stalks, which folks use as a substitute for cabbage. This salad may also contain mayonnaise, vinegar or lemon juice, carrots, pepper, salt, and sugar. People generally serve this dish at a meal for lunch or dinner. This dish is widely known as broccoli slaw salad or coleslaw.

Many people serve broccoli salad also with ramen. You can make traditional salad with a substantial quantity of mayonnaise.

Ingredients For The Honey Mustard Dressing

  • Two tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • One tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • One tablespoon honey
  • ¼ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • One medium garlic clove, minced or pressed

Ingredients For The Broccoli Salad

  • 1 pound broccoli floret, thinly sliced and then roughly chopped
  • ½ cup finely chopped red onion
  • ½ cup raw sunflower seed or slivered almonds
  • 1/3 cup dried tart cherries or dried cranberries, finely chopped
  • ½ cup grated cedar cheese

  • Toast the sunflower seeds in a small-sized fry pan, in medium flame. Cook the grains by frequently stirring, until the seeds turn golden on the sides. Cook for 5 minutes and then pour the seeds on a large serving bowl.
  • Add the chopped broccoli, cheese, onion, cranberries and then set aside.
  • In a small bowl, add all the dressing ingredients like vinegar, olive oil, honey, mustard salt, and garlic. Whisk until the mixture blends properly.
  • Now, pour the dressing over the salad and stir generously so that the entire broccoli is adequately coated in dressing. 
  • Now, marinate the mixture for 20 minutes to overnight in a refrigerator.
  • Divide the salad on an individual bowl and serve.

  • 8 cups broccoli, finely sliced and chopped into bite-size pieces
  • ½ cup dried cranberries
  • 1/3 cup diced red onion
  • ¼ cup sunflower seeds
  • Three tablespoons cider vinegar
  • ½ cup bacon bits
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • Two tablespoons sugar
  • Salt and pepper

Preparation of Broccoli Salad

  • In a large deep bowl, combine broccoli, cranberries, onion, sunflower seeds and bacon bits. 
  • Whisk together sugar, mayonnaise, cider vinegar, salt and pepper in a medium-sized bowl and then set aside
  • Pour the dressing mixture over the salad mixture and mix well so that the dressing mixture covers the entire broccoli.
  • Then marinate for an hour in the refrigerator and then serve.
